Five kidnapping suspects,
Esther Faith Philips, Patricia Inna, Kingsley Okonwa, Osita Adigwe and
Uzochukwu Ezioha, have been sentenced to a joint 180 years in prison by
Justice Olabisi Akinlade of an Igbosere High Court, after being
convicted of robbery and abduction.
They were charged to court for conspiring together to rob and kidnap one Ayodele Olaoye on April 22, 2012 along Iba-LASU Road, Lagos.
The dispossessed their victim of his GSM mobile phones, wristwatch and necklace valued at N600,000.
Not
done with the robbery, the gang further kidnapped Ayodele and made a
demand of N5 million ransom which was paid by his family.
When
they were brought to the court, the five of them pleaded guilty to the
crimes. Following their guilty plea, the judge sentenced them to
different terms totalling 180 years.
